GME Primary Initiatives​

The Black Ink Group has convened a Steering Committee to advise and direct three primary initiatives known as the Great Migration Experience (GME).

 

1. The Great Migration Experience Traveling Exhibit -- The Black Ink Group has outlined an adaptable and expandable traveling exhibit that can be easily set up and broken down to be displayed at expositions, festivals, conferences, parades and other special events and venues as part of a major tourism attraction effort. The Great Migration Experience would evolve in scale through four separate and distinct stages;

2. Coming to Chicago - a social media story-telling competition encouraging youth to learn about and relate their own family histories in the form of poems, raps, independently produced videos/films and other art forms to be showcased on Youtube, facebook, twitter, etc.;

3. Chicago’s Down Home Reunion -  a day-long festival in the park with designated reunion pavilions representing the home states of the various immigrants.  General chairs for each state will be asked to organize tributes in honor of the food, culture, landmark institutions and trail blazing pioneers in the arts, education, business and other fields of endeavor.
